Biased Drug Study Reporting

Americans are beginning to catch on to the Big Pharma game.  Pay for a study to be done on your company’s hottest drug prospect.  If nothing good is happening try to alter the study to fit a subset of the data that might be favorable.  If that doesn’t work, throw the study in the trash before word gets out that the drug is dangerous.  A new review of stroke studies found that 75% of those entering the recycle bin were unfavorable, whereas 96% of those published were favorable.  This follows an early report that drug studies funded by Big Pharma produce far higher favorable findings compared to the same drugs studied by an independent research group.  The bottom line is clear, Big Pharma sponsored drug studies are marketing pieces, not science.  Big Pharma is actively hiding adverse drug data from society.

Institute of Medicine Blasts the FDA on Safety

The FDA helped sponsor the Institute of Medicine report, and the results were not pretty.  The FDA’s dirty laundry has been spread out to view, problems that pervade the agency and seriously compromise the safety of Americans.  The facts I have laid out in Fight for Your Health: Exposing the FDA’s Betrayal of America are now being reported by an a branch of the National Academy of Sciences that advise the federal government.

A Serious Attack on Nutritional Supplements

Immediate consumer action needed!!!  Vitamin-hating Senator Richard Durbin, along with former supplement supporters Senators Hatch and Harkin, are seeking to impose draconian Adverse Event Reporting requirements on supplement companies.  This legislation is intended to destroy the supplement industry.

Hatch and Harkin receive money from Big Pharma and supplement industry spin groups now working with Big Pharma to instigate a sell out of health options and health freedom for Americans.  Big Pharma is seeking to buy and control the supplement industry.

Immediate action is needed by the consumer public to stop this insane bill from passing, which could happen any day.  The National Health Federation has written a press release summarizing the major problems with this legislation.  I have also written extensively on this subject.  Follow the links at the top of the left column of our homepage to voice your concerns.  We must flood Congress with opposition if we are to stop this bill.

FDA Advisory Panels are a Joke

The FDA advisory panels, a collection of mostly hand-picked industry friendly “experts,” have been used by the FDA to secure sales for Big Pharma in the face of serious adverse drug effects.  The FDA is often criticized for the clear financial connections to drug companies, pretending that such relationships have no impact on the objectivity of such panel members.

Finally, the FDA is taking action.  They are removing an FDA panelist – because the drug company doesn’t like him!  Of course, this was done in a behind-the-back and backstabbing manner.

FDA Whistleblower Blasts New Merck Painkiller

Dr. David Graham, whistleblower working within the confines of the FDA’s struggling drug safety offices, continues his public attack on the lack of safety condoned by the FDA.  Graham believes that Merck’s new arthritis drug, Arcoxia, like Vioxx, poses undue cardiovascular risk.  Writing on the Journal of the American Medical Association’s website he states, “The FDA, academia, and the medical research enterprise are once again faced with the opportunity to forsake common sense by willfully accepting misdirection and disinformation presented in the guise of science.” Big Pharma operates like a profit-mongering form of cancer, not only buying every phase of the drug development and regulation process, but paying off Capital Hill as well.

Congress is For Sale, Not for the People

An editorial in the USA Today outlines the depths that money buys whatever is desired on Capital Hill.  Big Pharma is the largest purchaser of Capital Hill services.  Thus, it is no exaggeration to say that we are now a country run on the principles of Big Pharma.  The bottom line:  maintain a toxic food supply and environment so that people are constantly sick and in need of Big Pharma drugs.  Ensure all drugs are paid for by a public welfare system that has no ability to negotiate price.  Endless profits at the expense of human health.  Washington needs to be turned on its head.  Politicians in both parties have their hands full of blood-soaked money.

Big Pharma Rewards Government Scientists to Foster Support

Big Pharma has no problem paying top researchers at the National Institute of Health (NIH) for favorable sales pitch efforts.  The Los Angeles Times reports on the tip of an iceberg, highlighting several cases of influence peddling at the highest levels of “science.” How can the public possibly trust any drug study that favorably portrays the benefits of a drug?  The NIH refuses to act to discipline this perversion of science at the expense of human health, showing that there is no credibility in our federal government or in Big Pharma.  No doubt, “science for hire” is a favorite income source for many that work in government positions of power.  Consumer beware.

Genetically Modified Food on the Loose

New reports that illegal strains of genetically modified rice are showing up in the food supply in the United States and Europe are creating quite an uproar, as reported in the Wall Street Journal.  The patent for the illegal rice strain in question, Liberty Link, is owned by Bayer – the large German pharmaceutical company with the seriously checkered safety record (read Fight for Your Health).  The quality of our food supply has been jeopardized by the FDA’s approval of genetically modified food.  This recent problem is a sign regulators have no control over the Jeannie they have let out of the bottle.

Thanks for the Super Bugs

MRSA, the deadly antibiotic-resistant bacteria, is now an epidemic in communities around the world.  This is the dark side of antibiotics, altering evolution in a way that puts the risk of the population in jeopardy.  The constant overuse of antibiotics by the medical profession, along with the Petri dish known as hospitals, are responsible for this problem.  They have let the evil Genie out of the bottle, escaping into the environment to wreak havoc for one and all.  Of course, natural germ killers like colloidal silver and oregano oil will remain on the FDA hit list, as bumbling idiots watch people die.
