Genetically Modified Food on the Loose
New reports that illegal strains of genetically modified rice are showing up in the food supply in the United States and Europe are creating quite an uproar, as reported in the Wall Street Journal. The patent for the illegal rice strain in question, Liberty Link, is owned by Bayer - the large German pharmaceutical company with the seriously checkered safety record (read Fight for Your Health). The quality of our food supply has been jeopardized by the FDA’s approval of genetically modified food. This recent problem is a sign regulators have no control over the Jeannie they have let out of the bottle.
