Tackling the Obesity Epidemic
Welcome. We are constantly reminded that obesity is an epidemic in our culture. The government wants everyone to believe that it is their own fault. Individuals must exercise more and eat less, especially less junk. There is an element of truth in this message; however, it is far from a complete picture.
Our government condones a junk food industry, permits massive adulteration of our food supply, stands up for chemical polluters of the environment (such chemicals damage metabolism), allows off label drug use in children that is causing diabetes, offers horrendous dietary advice, and permits the low-quality food of multinational companies to permeate our food supply.
Yes. Individuals can take more personal responsibility. However, the policies of our government are just as much a cause of obesity as any other issue. The problem must be solved or our country will soon collapse from the costs and incompetence of its own diseased and de-energized population.
As the leading nutritional expert on leptin, the hormone that causes obesity, this blog is my effort to set the record straight and help people regain their metabolic health.
